Day 3 in Beijing

Beijing is an impressive capital possesses 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites including the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Ming Tombs, Zhoukoudian, Temple of Heaven, and parts of the Great Wall and the Grand Canal.

I woke up 5 am to take the slowest public transport to Badaling (八达岭), since the faster options were unavailable. It is the most visited section of the Great Wall of China, approximately 80 kilometers (50 mi) northwest of Beijing. There were many early birds like me on the site all over the area, especially the hiking entrance (worst than the starting line of Marie Corp Marathon), literally shoulder to shoulder between northern Post 1-4, and  the highest point of Badaling Beibalou (北八樓), approximately 1,015 meters (3,330 ft) above sea level.  It was full of people since there are Gondola lifts and Funicular to get people up close by.

It was pretty hot and there was no cover at all on the Wall, so it took me 2:15 to walk from the north post 1 to post 12 then walked down post 11.  I gave up the south side and got back to town around 1 PM.

I decided to take today easy, did my laundry, ate a bog late lunch, and took naps. The food here is really tasty and economical. The 1st night I ordered spicy wide noodles with grill chicken ($3), and tonight I had a dinner box with giant meat balls, eggplant, stir-fly vege, and rice ($3). Each order fed me for two meals. I will try other food in the next three days.
