Day 4 in Beijing

I planned to take the following route, yet passed by some spots en route since I slept in and had a late start plus downpour rain for 1-2 hours.

Yonghe Temple ➜ Wudaoying Hutong ➜ Jianchang Hutong ➜ Imperial College & Confucius Temple ➜ Fangjia Hutong ➜ Branch Hall Hutong ➜ Beiluogu Lane ➜ Dongsui Hutong ➜ Baochao Hutong➜Bell Tower➜Drum Tower➜Drum Tower East Street➜Nanluogu Alley➜Yandaixie Street➜Shichahai Yinding Bridge➜Prince Gong’s Mansion➜Beihai Park

The Yonghe Temple, also known as the Lama Temple, is a temple and monastery of Tibetan Buddhism. I watched youtube for building and artwork of the temple is a combination of Han Chinese and Tibetan styles, and I would to see the inside yet I didn’t due to time restraint.

I walked via many hustings (old streets), including the 800-meter long Nanluogixiang Hutong lined with trendy bars, yummy restaurants, unique hostels, lively themed stores and itirant vendors. Its vernacular courtyard houses, grey-colored, accompanied by old trees, showcase Beijing's traditional architecture.  Continue to feel Beijing long history by walking along Mao'er Hutong. It is a very famous hutong among the 25 surviving hutong protected areas in Beijing.

Prince Gong's Mansion, also known as the Prince Kung Mansion, is a museum and tourist attraction located in just north of the Shichahai Lake. It consists of large siheyuan-style mansions and gardens. Another one I wish that I had time to visit.

Beihai Park is a public park and former imperial garden northwest of the Forbidden City.  Beihai is among the largest of all surviving Chinese gardens and contains numerous historically important structures, palaces, and temples. I really enjoyed the inside, yet I skipped some spots to meet with a friend’s brother for dinner at 溪山邑武夷山小灶菜.
