Day 6 in St. Petersburg
I walked 2.6 km to check out another creative space loft Etagi @ Ligovskiy prospekt; 74. I had to ask around to find the exact location. It is relatively small, and most artists were not there on Saturday morning.
I then walked 2.8 in to Alexander Nevsky Lavra (2.8 km), aka Alexander Nevskiy Monastery with Tikhvin Cemetery which houses the tombs of some of the world's most famous composers; Tschaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Mussorgsky and Borodin, and also the author Fyodor Dostoevsky, along with many other famous Russian figures.
I walked another 2 km to the art center Pushkinskaya-10 which is a point of interest for local and international artists and collectives. The art center has a total area of over 4 500 sq. as the home to a museum, archive, galleries, clubs, studios of artists and musicians, an international residency program, and other creative spaces. I was there for John Lenons Street museum. This unique little spot was started by a devoted Beatles fan named Nikolai Vasin. “He had actually wanted to turn one of Saint Petersburg’s already established streets into a monument to the beloved band, but city authorities refused this idea. When the legal ways to dedicate a John Lennon Street proved unfruitful, Vasin got creative. He designed a street sign, placed it over the archway, and added an arrow pointing up. According to this logic, the street does not go along the ground and thus does not fall under the jurisdiction of officials.
Later, this small passageway in the inner courtyard of Pushkinskaya 10—a hub of modern art established in a formerly abandoned building—was decorated with other tokens of the Beatles. Four bas-reliefs of the members were installed on the arch (on John Lennon’s birthday), alongside a temple dedicated to “love, peace, and music,” and an iconic yellow submarine painted on the wall.” Then I walked 2 km back to the hostel.
I finally decide to buy Blueberry Forte with Lutein contains blueberry anthocyanins, vitamins and zinc, as gifts from Russia, since they are light and contain no liquid. I tried more than ten pharmacies to get enough of them. Interestingly, I ran into a Vintage pharmacy Peterburgskie apteki on Nevsky street St. with antique medicine cabinets and equipment in display. I rashes back to the hostel before the forecast rain, and then came out again between 6-7 pm to get dinner food. I am flying into China tomorrow night.
