Tibetan area of Sichuan 黄龍


 I hardly slept last night because I was too nervous to miss my 6:45 am high speed train.  I booked a Didi to meet at 5:39 am to get to the train station. The high speed train just extends to this station 黄龍 九寨站since September 1, 2024, that cut the 7-8 hours bus ride into 2-hr train ride. I made a new friend and we toured the site in four hours. 


Huanglong‌ 黄龍is located in Songpan County, ‌Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China. It is a scenic spot famous for its "four wonders" of colorful pools, snow-capped mountains, canyons and forests. Huanglong is known as the fairyland on earth due to its unique geological structure and natural landscape, including giant surface travertine slope valleys. The colorful pools in the scenic area, such as the ‌Yingbin Pool, ‌Jade Bathing Pool, etc., each have their own characteristics and shapes, showing the natural beauty and ecological diversity of Huanglong.


Huanglong Scenic Area starts from Wangxiangtai in the south and ends at the Fu River Valley in the north. It is 3.5 kilometers long. Its scenery is famous for its strangeness, uniqueness, beauty and seclusion. It is listed as a World Natural Heritage together with Jiuzhaigou. Huanglong Scenic Area consists of two parts: Huanglong Headquarters and Munigou. Huanglong Headquarters consists of Huanglonggou, Danyun Gorge, Xuebaoding and other scenic spots, while Munigou is dominated by Zhaga Waterfall and Erdaohai. Huanglong Scenic Area has become the focus of world attention with the "strangeness" of Huanglonggou, the "majesty" of Xuebaoding, the "magnificence" of Xueshanliang, the "steepness" of Danyun Gorge and the "wildness" of Munigou.


I stayed in a town Paradise entrance 天堂口，which is very close to the Jiuzhaigou (九寨沟) Valley and has a lot of supermarkets and restaurants with prices cheaper than Chengdu. I are 肥肠粉, fruits, and yogurt for dinner.

A zero day back to Moscow

 I finished two towns 苏兹达里 суздаль and 弗拉基米尔 владимир yesterday, and walked a lot, so I took today easy, just to transport myself back to Moscow. Since I was stressed out last time buying an express train ticket at the train terminal, I attempted to book one online. However, the booking info request was frustrating. Fortunately, my young biker hostelmate figured out and finally booked my 2nd choice ticket, while my 1st choice was gone while we were trying.  My hostelmate is an architect college student so he speaks enough English to communicate with me. I ended up getting on a sleeping seat and had a 2-hr nap on the train back to Moscow.  Russian people are generally friendly and helpful, although they were intimidated by my English at the beginning. Day 3 in Huangshan 黃山

Yungu Temple 云谷寺 Trail Climb up the mountain - Shixin Peak - Xihai Grand Canyon - Outside the ring - Mengbi Shenghua - Qingliang Terrace - Monkeys watching the sea - Guangmingding 100-step cloud ladder - Welcoming pine - Yuping cableway (see map) Shixin Peak 始信峰 is 1,683 meters above sea level, surrounded by cliffs on three sides and an empty valley facing the wind. There are many pine trees nearby, so there is a saying that "If you don't go to Shixin Peak, you won't see Huangshan pines". It is a representative landscape of Huangshan. There is also the Shuguang Pavilion here. About 200 meters away from the Shuguang Pavilion is the famous Qingliang Terrace, which is also surrounded by the sky on three sides.
