Day 5 in Nanning

I took a bus to Mingyue Lake European Style Town 欧洲风情小镇 which is a town with European style, with red-tiled pointed buildings, windmills, bell towers and other buildings, popular for locals taking pictures and leisure. But this popular photo spot is actually an innovation base.

I then walked around Mingyue Lake Wetland Park 明月湖溼地公园 for 4 km that aims to improve the ecological environment of the Xinxu River Basin and achieve the goal of "clear water, green banks, smooth rivers and beautiful scenery". Mingyue Lake Park is equipped with leisure and sports facilities, including the main park road, water-friendly trails, and cross-lake trestle bridges, forming a 2-kilometer, 3-kilometer, and 4-kilometer fitness routes. The landscape design in the park includes dazzling red sleeves bridges, colorful rainbow bridges, layered vertical flow wetlands, and colorful flowers.

I took a bus then walked 1 km to Nanning Huangdi Temple 黄帝廟 that has been around for more than 900 years since the 5th year of Huangyou in the Northern Song Dynasty. According to folklore, the Double Ninth Festival on September 9th is the birthday of the ancestor of Huangdi. On this day every year, the Yongzhou Huangdi Temple located by the Dancun River will hold a corresponding celebration ceremony, inviting some Taoist priests to perform. Unfortunately, the temple was destroyed decades ago. It has been demolished and rebuilt twice in modern times. The temple was temporarily demolished in 2003 due to the expansion of the Dancun Water Plant Pump Station. After the expansion of the pump station was completed in 2004, the people restored the Huangdi Temple and renovated it in 2005, so the temple now looks very new. A century-old tree is still standing next to the original site of the temple.
