Meet & greet in Taipei series V
Meet & greet series V: my Africa travel pal over a chicken soup place 好好食房,my trade school classmate over tea in his office, my college alumna over a Japanese wine house 居酒屋, one of my junior high school classmate over lunch at Evergreen Maritime Museum 長榮海事博物館餐廳, and another backpacker I met at the hostel in St. Petersburg, Russia over afternoon coffee.
The wine house boss is Japanese sake brewers and also qualified as international Japanese sake lecturer. They offer many special dishes, such as Soft-Boiled Egg, Salt-grilled chicken ankle, salmon liver, Jinshan Temple miso cucumber, salt-grilled sweetfish (四貝溏心蛋, 塩燒雞踝, 鮭魚肝, 金山寺味噌小黃瓜, 塩燒子持香魚),etc. ,paired with various plum wines, including one cost $800 TWD per cup ($25 USD, 8 times of the typical Japanese plum wine).
The maritime museum has a variety of model ships, from canoes built by ancient humans using digging and chiseling to various sailboats, mechanical powered ships, and work boats; there are also bamboo rafts that show the customs of Taiwan's island people, and king ships 王船with religious significance, etc. The museum also exhibits paintings with the ocean as the background, spanning the 18th to 20th centuries, from war scenes to sails on the sea.
